Description
Summary:Banjarbaru city is a develop city in South Kalimantan province with area 37.130 km ² (37 130 ha) or 3.8 times the size of Banjarmasin or half of the city of Jakarta. For population density in Banjarbaru based on Census 201) is 199 627 people, with the male and female 97 342 and 102 285 people. The increase of population also made the industrial sector grow faster. A wide range of industries in this city from the wood processing industry, creative industries and agriculture. Then Along with the increase of population and economy was the amount of wastewater will increase as well and would need efforts to eliminate pollution from water bodies. Waste water to review is domestic waste water, ie water usage former domestic activities such as households, schools, offices, agencies or institutions, commercial areas, prayer building, and others. The existing conditions so far domestic waste water disposal in Banjarbaru was still use septic tanks, and some even directly disposed into drains or directly into receiving water bodies like rivers because there is the presence of waste water disposal facilities are adequate. As a result, the river that flows in the midst of a polluted city, meanwhil Banjarbaru city highly dependent on the river. Therefore need to be built to cope with water pollution WWTP effluent to receiving water bodies and groundwater so that environmental quality can be maintained. WWTP was planned using a biological treatment for domestic wastewater due to wastewater characteristic that rich in biodegradable organic matter. The WWTP planned to use MBBR (Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor) as a waste treatment alternative, MMBR is the advanced technology that using the principle of attached growth by expanding the field area in a reactor by filling it with bicarrier made of plastic and are relatively very small.
