Produced water contains high amounts of substances which naturally present in the underground formations such as organic and inorganic materials, which are toxic, bioaccumulation and bioconcentration. Produced water is generally treated with water treatment disposal such as injection or processing plant prior to being discharged into water bodies. Case studies conducted on produced water from PT Medco E&P Lematang with main pollutants that exceed the quality standard were COD and NH3. Horizontal subsurface constructed wetlands was applied in this research to observe the removal efficiency of the pollutants that existed in produced water. Type of plants that was used in this research are Typha latifolia, Sagittaria palaefolia and Scirpus grossus, with a variation of organic loading at 7,2 gr COD/m2.day, 14,4 gr COD/m2.day, and 72 gr COD/m2.day with the same hydraulic load condition (0.045 m3/m2.day) and retention time (7 days). COD and ammonia that have been evaluated in this research reach the optimum condition of removal efficiency in OLR 7,2 grCOD/m2.day with T. latifolia as a plants for the reactor. On the high loading, that is 72 grCOD/m2.day the results was not high as ecpected compare to the lower loading. text |
