Description
Summary:Diminishing of unrenewable energy reserves trigger low capacity energy conversion technology development. This case become a challenging and interesting issue, although from this technology will generate low power only. This research designs a vapor power system with power output 10 kW, uses heat at 250oC. This research implements Rankine cycle and designs main components of vapor power system only. Steam generator modeling uses Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0. Condenser is designed by consider design standard and constraints. Then their dimension and pressure drop can be determined. Shallow well pump is used in this power system. Pump operating condition is determined by consider system condition and pump testing data. Finally, this study do preliminary design of small scale steam turbine by consider some references. The result shows this vapor power system has thermal efficiency 2,88%. 0,15 kg/s water mass flow is provided by two pump in series arrangement and required power is 477 W. Steam generator capacity is 389,6 kW and condenser capacity is 378,4 kW. Condenser which is used is shell and tubes condenser type, straight tubes with a shell pass and a tubes pass. Steam turbine which is used is single stage impuls turbine with a single velocity stage. This steam turbine has efficiency around 50%.
