Summary:Fire disaster is the most common non-natural disaster in urban area that may cause material and non-material harm. Based on the area characteristic, high density settlements is an area that vulnerable to fire disaster hazard because of its high building and population density. One of the high density settlements is Tambora District in West Jakarta, DKI Jakarta province. With its vulnerable characteristics and fire disaster history, mitigation action is needed to reduce its disaster risk. Before mitigation actions arrangement, understanding of fire disaster risk of Tambora District is essential to understand the problem to be able to formulate a series of compatible mitigation program. This research is aming to identify the fire disaster risk in Tambora District high density settlement by assessing three disaster risk’s variable which is fire disaster hazard, fire disaster vulnerability, and local capacity to reduce fire disaster’s potential harm. The result shows that Tambora District have a fairly high level of fire disaster hazard that is caused by high level of electrical hazard and commonly found flammable materials especially liquid flammable substance like gasoline. Tambora District have high level of fire disaster vulnerability due to high level of physical vulnerability and high level of population density. A series of fire disaster risk program had been done in recent years primarily to raise preparedness on different level towards fire disaster and also able to raise awareness toward fire disaster hazard.
