Description
Summary:Jakarta as the one of the largest metropolitan city in the world suffered severe congestion for a long time. One of the strategies used by DKI Jakarta government to combat this issue is by implementing a good mass transportation system by executing the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system. In order to improve a better BRT system, the government of DKI Jakarta through UPT Jakarta Smart City collaborated with PT. Transjakarta and Pulse Lab Jakarta undertake a project to study the BRT system enhancement using real – time data analytics. The project is implemented in 2016 and is the first big data utilization project for mass transportation development that conducted by DKI Jakarta Government. The implementation of this project has indicated that big data technology has been implemented in the development of BRT system in DKI Jakarta. However, it is not yet clear how the big data utilization processes occured, how far the benefits can be gained and how the stakeholders influence the process. Through literature study and semi-structured in – depth interviews, this study analyze the stages and the technical processes of big data utilization in DKI Jakarta BRT system; the roles and networks among stakeholders; the importance of big data to improve BRT system and its obstacles; and examine big data utilization to support data driven policy in DKI Jakarta. As a result of the study, it is known that big data contributed in supporting a better BRT development planning process in the component of customer service and networks expansion, modes integration, and also in bus information and management system. In addition, this study shows the diversity of stakeholders involved in the project influence the process of big data utilization.
