This research explains the characteristic of composites made of bamboo fibers when given flexural load using the three point bending method test. The bamboo used is the plate shape apus bamboo (Gigantochloa apus Kurz.) with the size of 25 cm in long, 0.5 cm width, and 0.05 cm thick. The matriks used is resin epoxy with the catalis epoxy hardner. The test will be conducted speciments with the fibers direction lengthwise and the speciments with the fibers direction crosswise. Through this research we will gain the bending characteristic of composites made from bamboo. The results shows that the flexural strength and modulus of flexural for the lengthwise direction bamboo composite is 85.5 MPa dan 3.8 GPa. And the crosswise direction bamboo composite is 115.9 MPa and 5.9 GPa. text |
