Description
Summary:Mobile learning is a learning approach involving a mobile device, such as mobile phones and tablet PCs, where learners can access materials, referrals and applications without being limited by space and time. E-Book based mobile learning application created in this study is inteded to provide an interactive learning media to study the structure and function of biomolecules on the focus at this early development stage on the study about the structure and functions of amino acids and proteins. Stages in the creation of the application includes the preparation of subject materials, design of visualization, coding, implementation, testing and maintenance. Coding stage was written using java programming language and Android. Applications content consists of subject materials, tutorials, quizzes and practical instructions. In additon, the application has the login page as an entry to access the applications so that users must register to obtain the login password in order to access learning subjects, principles and procedures of laboratory associated with the subjects, doing the exercises, and read the documentation of the applications. Learning subjects were presented in the form of text, pictures, slides and animation video. In stage of the applications testing, 34 respondents were involved for the evaluation. Responses of the respondents to the question "Do the learning subjects meet with the needs, useful, complete and up to date?" got 41.91% strongly agree, 52.21% agree and 5.88% less agree. The next questioner for the question "Do the applications attractive, easy to use, stable and smooth as well as responsive?” obtained 16.91% of respondents answered strongly agreed, 74.26% agree, and 8.82% less agree. The last question, which was whether “the application make it easy to search the needed subject materials, increase motivation to learn, the exercises are easy to understand, and get the quick result” got 23.53% of respondents answered strongly agreed, 67.65% agree and 8.82% less agree. The questionnaire result is categorized as valid and reliable according to the r test, since r ? rtable. The average score for 12 questions questionnaire and 34 respondents is 3.196, which is relatively high, hence it can be concluded that the created mobile application can be used as a media to learn the structure and function of biomolecules with the focus on amino acids and proteins subjects.
