Description
Summary:This final assignment discussed 350 bar pressure vessel analysis which is needed for hydrogen storage vessel in fuel cell vehicle. The main objective of this final assignment is to decide the best construction for the pressure vessel and the most suitable material to be used. Parameters for this pressure vessel construction are materials, lamination angle and aluminum liner effect. The criteria for the construction of the pressure vessel are strong, light, maximum stress safety factor for composite of more than 3, Von-Misses safety factor of more than 3, Tsai-Hill number of more than 0,3 and minimum buckling safety factor of more than 1,5. Software used for analysis are Patran & Nastran 2005 and GENLAM. The best construction chosen is strengthened wall and liner wall. Strengthened wall uses 12.500mm thick AS4/APC2 Carbon/PEEK, symmetric ±53° lamination angle, with maximum stress safety factor is equal to 3.2 and Tsai-Hill number is equal to 1.4. Liner wall uses 2.7mm thick Aluminum AA 7075, with maximum stress safety factor is equal to 1.6, and buckling safety factor is equal to 1.5. The overall weight of this construction is 17.9kg. Interlaminar shear stresses (ILSS) which cause delamination, occur in the construction. However the magnitude of interlaminar shear stresses is very small compared with material interlaminar shear strength.
