Summary: | Vibration is a physical phenomenon which has significant role in
understanding and controlling a mechanical structure condition. Dynamic
properties of a mechanical structure can be evaluated from its dynamic
characteristic which consists of natural frequency, damping ratio, and mode
shapes. The dynamic characteristic of a mechanical structure can be determined
by performing circle fit process to the measured Frequency Response Function
(FRF).
In this final project, a circle fit method has been developed for curve
fitting process of the measured FRF MDOF. The circle fit method is developed
using Matlab 7.3.0 (R2006b) programming language. The developed circle fit
program is utilized to the measured FRF. It is intended to evaluate the influence of
the FRF residue during curve fitting process.
Utilizing the developed circle fit method, a theoretical FRF curve is
obtain which is considerably close to the measured FRF. This good result is
obtained when the curve fitting process is carried out by taking into account all
modes available in the measured FRF. In the case the curve fitting process is
conducted on some modes then the result show discrepancy between the measured
and the theoretical FRFs which is caused by the FRF residue. |
