Summary:Plastic waste is still a big problem and the handling method of it still being developed. Plastic bottles are one of the largest contributors to plastic waste in the world. The data from Sustainable Waste Indonesia funded by Danone Aqua shows that there are 350,000 tons of plastic bottles produced every year, the percentage of recycling successed has only reached 62% nationally. Polyethylene Terepthalate (PET) becomes the dominant material contained in plastic bottles up to 87%. In this study, the process of recycling PET plastic bottle waste into filaments as raw material for 3D printing using the extrusion method using a simple extrusion machine. In this study, PET plastic that had been cleaned and chopped was melted at temperatures of 230 oC, 240 oC, 250 oC, and 260 oC. Solidification of filament is carried out quickly in the water medium using a waterbath. This process has proven to be successful in producing filaments that have better tenacity. In the process of making filaments using the extrusion method, the optimal manufacture temperature is at a temperature of 260 oC. And when printing 3D printing products, the lower the temperature of 3D printing, the better product quality will be produced. In this research, we can conclude that recycle PET plastic bottle very potential to be recycled into 3D printing filament.
