Summary: | Earthquakes that occur due to small-scale ground movements (M>2) have frequency 0.1-10 Hz range. The instruments that can be used to measure is a seismometer. In general, seismometers use the pendulum concept, including the folded pendulum. The folded pendulum is constructed from two simple pendulums: one pendulum points down and one pendulum points up and it is connected to one pendulum. The construction was developed to be able to detect vibrations with frequencies below 10 Hz by designing the shape and mass of the load. The pendulum movement is detected by placing a 2x1 mm neodymium magnet, the movement of the magnet detected by using Giant Magnetoresistance (GMR) NVE AA002.
Folded pendulum which was developed with Aluminum 6061, dimensions of 100 x 31 mm and resonance frequency at 6.6 Hz. From the test results, the design can measure at frequency 0.2-1.2 Hz with amplitude greater than 10 mm. |
