Thermal stabilizer based from local ingredients needs to be developed to decrease the need for import. The appropriate thermal stabilizer to be developed in Indonesia is tin and palm oil fatty acid distillate-based thermal stabilizer. However, tin-based thermal stabilizer lacks interest from the PVC manufacturers because of its opaque color and liquid-phase. PVC manufacturers in Indonesia are more accustomed to utilizing solid-phase thermal stabilizer. The solution to the problem above is the manufacture of solid-phase additive packages (one packs). The objective of this research is to devise a one pack composition which produces the best thermal stability effect. The aforementioned one pack is made from PVC, tin-based thermal stabilizer, paraffin wax, oxidized PE wax and calcium stearate. The additive package’s composition from each run is arranged based on 23 factorial design with 2 replications. The variated components are organic tin thermal stabilizer, calcium stearate, paraffin wax, and polyethylene wax. The effectiveness of one pack is measured according to the stabilization performance which is tested using static and dynamic thermal stability tests. The static thermal stability test is done using the congo red test and the dehydrochlorination test, and the dynamic thermal stability test is done using the two-roll mill test. Other than that, the flowability of the one pack is measured using the angle of repose test. According to the experiment results, organotin thermal stabilizer-based one packs can be manufactured using PVC resin as a nucleus. The one pack with the best flowability is the one with a low level of 15 phr organotin thermal stabilizer. One pack that shows the best thermal stabilization performance is variation number 7 with high levels of organotin thermal stabilizer and calcium stearate accompanied with a low level of paraffin wax. text |

import. The appropriate thermal stabilizer to be developed in Indonesia is tin and palm
oil fatty acid distillate-based thermal stabilizer. However, tin-based thermal stabilizer
lacks interest from the PVC manufacturers because of its opaque color and liquid-phase.
PVC manufacturers in Indonesia are more accustomed to utilizing solid-phase thermal
stabilizer. The solution to the problem above is the manufacture of solid-phase additive
packages (one packs).
The objective of this research is to devise a one pack composition which produces the
best thermal stability effect. The aforementioned one pack is made from PVC, tin-based
thermal stabilizer, paraffin wax, oxidized PE wax and calcium stearate. The additive
package’s composition from each run is arranged based on 23 factorial design with 2
replications. The variated components are organic tin thermal stabilizer, calcium
stearate, paraffin wax, and polyethylene wax. The effectiveness of one pack is measured
according to the stabilization performance which is tested using static and dynamic
thermal stability tests. The static thermal stability test is done using the congo red test
and the dehydrochlorination test, and the dynamic thermal stability test is done using
the two-roll mill test. Other than that, the flowability of the one pack is measured using
the angle of repose test.
According to the experiment results, organotin thermal stabilizer-based one packs can
be manufactured using PVC resin as a nucleus. The one pack with the best flowability is
the one with a low level of 15 phr organotin thermal stabilizer. One pack that shows the
best thermal stabilization performance is variation number 7 with high levels of
organotin thermal stabilizer and calcium stearate accompanied with a low level of
paraffin wax.
