Description
Summary:In 2015, out of 22385.81 TWh of world electricity consumption, the industrial sector consumed 8496.09 TWh of electricity, the occupancy sector was 5465,703 TWh, and the public service sector was 4492,158 TWh. In 2009, Puerto Rico suffered a loss of millions of dollars due to hacking of smart electricity meters (Liebowitz, 2012), in 2014 it was reported that India invested around 4 billion dollars to overcome electricity theft (Reuters, 2014), in 2015 there were at least 25,000 cases of electricity theft in the UK (crimestoppers-uk.org, 2015), and in 2017, Senegal suffered a loss of around 46 million dollars annually due to electricity theft. The purpose of this study is to design a recording design of prepaid electricity using blockchain technology to overcome electricity theft. Blockchain technology is applied to the electricity consumption recording system. The system is also designed to detect electricity theft. Functional testing and system performance is carried out before carrying out system security analysis at the final stage of the research.
