Description
Summary:Sandortcum koeljape Merr. (Meliaceae}, or known as "Kecapi". is used in traditional medicine starting from the roots, leaves. fruit seeds and stems. The phytochemical study shows that this plant contains terpenoid and lirnonoid derivatives, such as 3-oxo-olean-12- en-27-oat acid known to have anticancer activity, sandoricin as anti-feedant, and caryophylene oxide which has anti-inflammatory activity. Phytochemical studies of stem barks have been carried out by researchers. but the same study for samples from Indonesia has never been done. Therefore, this study aims to isolate and determine the molecular structure of secondary metabolites from S. koeuape stem barks from Pandeglang, Banten. The isolation methodology includes extraction. fractionation, and purification, which is canied out by Yarious chromatographic techniques. The structures of the isolated compounds were detennined based on spectroscopic data (IR, UV, and NMR), compared with literature data. Three pure compow1ds have been obtained, which are 7-deasetoksi-7-oxo-gedunin (DN-1) (limonoid), briononic acid (ON-2) (pentacyclic triterpenes), and new seco-tet::racyclic triterpenes (ON-3). Compound ON-2 has been isolated previously in parts of the fruit hulJs and seeds. ON-1 has never been found before for this plant. although it has previously been reported as limonoid from Carapa gwanensts and Pseudoc:edrela kotschyt (Meliaceae). In conclusion, in this study, three compounds have been isolated. ON-1, DN-2 and DN-3, which add to the phytochemicals of S. koe jape.
