Summary: | Scouring phenomenon can be observed in tsunami incident in the last decade has caused great damage to many aspects. Scouring can be caused by the flow of water waves and causes any structure in coastal area collapse. In this research, we propose a mathematical model to investigate scouring phenomenon by water waves. The model that we use is based on Shallow Water Equation that is modified by coupling it with Exner equation. The Exner model represent the sediment profile caused by the water flow. Then, we solve the model numerically using finite volume method on a staggered grid. The staggered scheme is shown to be a robust and simple method for approximate the Exner-Shallow Water Equation for bedload sediment modeling. Numerical tests were conducted to show how good convergence properties to an analytical solution and match pretty well with a dambreak test experimental data. Moreover, the cases of subcritical steady flow over a bump and transcritical flow over a bump are showing a good result. Lastly, we compare our staggered numerical scheme to an uneven bottom topography experimental data. Further, our numerical model is able to be implemented to study scouring phenomenon. |
