INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/38830 In the last decades there are many windmill were build to meet energy needs.Windmill will convert wind energy into energy for everyday needs. There is windmill built in the sea because of sea breeze. Sea breeze will certainly making waves that will hit the windmill and the waves that hit a windmill will certainly produce energy too. In this study, the value of the wave run-up on cylindrical windmills produced by the waves will be examined. The model used to describe the phenomenon is the shallow water equation (SWE) this model is obtained from the approach through the laws of physics by utilizing mass conservation equations and momentum equilibrium equations. The obtained model then discretized by finite volume on the staggered grid method. Then the obtained numerical model will be tested using several simulations that already have analytic results, namely standing wave, shoaling and dambreak. So that the analytical results can be compared with the numerical results. Furthermore, the models that have been tested with these simulations will be used to simulate the experiments conducted by Leen De Vos, Peter Frigaard and Julien De Rouck. The simulation results are then compared with the values of analytic, empirical and experimental results. The value obtained from the simulation is quite close. text
