Summary:The development of gas turbine engines is rapidly increasing in the world today, especially in the aviation world. Because of that, the demand for turbojet engine is also growing. To fulfill the demand, the research for small turbojet engines that can produce 500N worth of thrust is an ongoing project in the department of Aeronautics and Astronautics ITB. The turbojet engine is using a centrifugal compressor and will be implemented to high speed UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle). In this final year project, diagonal or diagonal compressor impeller will be designed and analyzed as a turbojet engine’s compressor modification to prevent losses from occuring. To determine the size and geometry, analytical calculations has been done to achieve the turbojet engine’s design point. Furthermore, CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamic) analysis has been applied to three models of the impeller by varying the shape of impeller’s hub and blade. The result that close to the analytical calculation will be chosen as the final configuration. CFD analysis will be applied to the final configuration to understand the effect of tip clearance on performance and aerodynamic characteristics of the impeller.
