The simpler modeling and great accuracy of the results are the main factors of its development since 1970-es. As a complete system it must be supported by pre-processing unit for model preparation and post processing unit for further analysis of the result. In the pre-processing step, the geometry of the model is defined and discretised before finally being completed with the definition of boundary conditions. To develop the preprocessor with such complete capabilities started from drawing task until boundary conditions setup is not a simple programming work. The fact is the complexity mainly comes from the drawing unit programming, while some image processing software are available to readily created any geometry. The question that motivates the development of preprocessor in this final work is why not use the available image processing software to draw the image of the model and then read the data from the image to extract the geometry information required in the model preparation. Reading and extracting geometry data is carried out by searching on every pixel of the image for black colour that defines the geometry. The extracted geometry data are subsequently used in mesh generation and boundary conditions definition. The preprocessor is developed using C++ programming Further development is to include the filtering capabilities that can read well digital image which comes from picture capturing devices such as digital camera or scanner. text
