One of the most attractive destination in Indonesia is Lake Toba. Lake Toba is the largest lake in Southeast Asia and one of the deepest lake in the world. Besides tourism, Lake Toba utilized as a Hydroelectricity. Because of it, there are so many ships sailing in Lake Toba. Such as tourism boats, ferries, and also large ships like cargo and container. Hence emerges the needs of a navigation map to guide all the ships while sailing. In creating a navigation map it needs a vertical datum for a vertical surface reference. Vertical Datum in waters is Chart Datum. Determination of Chart Datum on Lake Toba was carried out by processing lake water level data using tidal harmonic analysis. The data used is a tide observation data in Lake Toba. It is obtained from Pushidros TNI-AL. There are two methods that is commonly used, admiralty and least squares. With these two methods, we will get the value of S? and Z? to calculate the Chart Datum. From these two methods, we will get the value of S? and Z? to calculate the Chart Datum. After that a comparison and analysis of the best Chart Datum for Lake Toba was carried out. The Chart Datum used is Lowest Astronomical Tide, from least square method. There are lots of factors when determining Chart Datum in lake such as, location of observation, length of observation, distribution of tide station, quality of data, and the methods for harmonic analysis. Mainly in harmonic analysis. There are two methods that is commonly used, admiralty and least squares. With these two methods, we will get the value of S? and Z? to calculate the Chart Datum. The data used is a secondary data obtained from Pushidros TNI-AL. After determining Chart Datum, then it will be compared to decide which one is the best Chart Datum. It is expected that the procedure for determining the vertical datum on Lake Toba can be a reference for determining the vertical datum in other lakes in Indonesia.
