Summary: | Method Engineering is a discipline that handles the development of the right method according to the needs of the project and the team. The method is built from a set of method chunk stored in a repository which is administrated by Method Base Management System (MBMS). The main problem that needs to be resolved is the absence of publicly accessible MBMS that follows a common standard for method representation. At present, MBMS is still part of another application and cannot be accessed by external entities. On top of that, method chunk is still represented by distinct standard of each application. This is not great because those two things makes it difficult for method engineers to work together and share resources.
The solution is to design an MBMS that manages method chunk in Essence. MBMS provides services for other applications to manipulate method chunk for method engineering needs. The provided processes for method chunk are inserting, deleting, updating, and retrieving. In addition, the stored method chunks can be browsed by method engineers easily and comfortably.
The development of MBMS is initialized by analysing the most current situation in method engineering. Afterwards, problems within the current situation is identified. Furthermore, analysis on design of the solution is done. The matter that are analysed are method chunk representation in Essence and the technologies used. After analysis and design process, the development is started with incremental model process. Eventually, the built MBMS is tested.
The end product is a publicly accessible MBMS as web service. In addition, there is a website connected to the web service which let users browse the content of the repository in a more comfortable way. |
