Description
Summary:Along with globalization occurring in various aspects of life, the lifestyle of the Indonesian people has also developed. Nowadays, shopping centers have become urban symbols. The shopping center that used to only function as a fulfillment of daily needs, has now developed into a recreational facility. PT TWBI as the project initiator wants a building that can establish connections with the local area, with passive designs that are in line with eco-cultural technology design criteria. The building that will be designed is also expected to be able to bring the value of the company's vision and mission that are active in efforts to preserve the environment. The site located at Jalan Raya Pelabuhan Benoa, South Denpasar with area up to 36.400 m2. The main target of this shopping center is foreign and local tourists, as well as the surrounding communities. There are 4 main issues that are taken into consideration in the design process, which are image / building image, zoning and circulation, convenience, and sustainability. From these issues, a basic concept of design is drawn up, one-stop gateway based on an eco-cultural design approach. The purpose of this concept is to create buildings that can accommodate all the needs of the communities, including shopping and recreational needs. Meanwhile, the eco-cultural design approach is intended as an effort to preserve the environment and promote Balinese culture especially for tourists.
