Summary: | Fatigue and sleepiness are the factors which contribute to cause train accidents. Although the effect of the lack of sleep on fatigue and sleepiness is obvious, but how much the quantity of sleep affects the fatigue and sleepiness becomes an interesting issue. This study aimed to test how much the quantity of sleep affects the performance of machinist in driving train simulator with dynamic routes for 4 hours. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) is used to quantify how much the quantity of sleep affects the machinist’s performance. The results showed that the quantity of sleep, subjective and objective measurement of sleepiness and fatigue as well as physical condition of the machinist affects the machinist’s performance in driving train simulator are 0,739, -0,740, 1,136, and 1,157 respectively. These four factors can explain the machinist’s performance by 88,9%. |
