Description
Summary:The increasing of oil prices in the world had rocked the economy in developing countries. Indonesia as one of the countries that use oil and gas as the main energy source and the result create some new energy sources of petroleum substitutes appeared and began to glance again, one of which is wind energy. Wind is a renewable energy source abundant in the earth's atmosphere and an environmentally friendly energy sources. Wind energy can be extracted by using wind turbines as will be discussed in the final project this time. Research includes designing, manufacturing, and testing the wind energy conversion systems. Type of wind turbine is chosen horizontal axis wind turbines that has five blades and a diameter of 1.8 meters with a trapezoidal blade geometry. Modifications are done is to provide a twist on the blade in order to obtain optimal results in extracting wind energy. Data obtained from the test results will show the power characteristics of wind turbines to various wind speeds.
