THE IMPLEMENTATION OF CONVENTIONAL AND DIGITAL METHOD IN ARHICTECTURE DESIGN PROCESS AT ARCHITECTURE CONSULTANS IN BANDUNG

Based on media approach used, methods in architecture design can be categorized as conventional and digital method. Digital method which was born and developed alongside the advancement of information technology is considered better in responding the higher project complexity. But some research claim that there are advantanges of the conventional method that can’t be replaced by the digital method. The purpose of this research is to reveal the implementation of the conventional and digital methods carried out by the current architecture design players and to find the factors which influence the choice taken between conventional or digital method in each stage of the architecture design. The subjects of this research are the architecture consultants categorized based on the scale of the company and limited to consultants located in Bandung area. The object of this research is the design method used on each stage of architecture design, namely conventional and digital methods. Data retrieval is done by observation to the consultants office, interview with the architecture design players, and observation of the project documentation that is currently being done. Data analysis is done by comparing each data with one another to find the dominant factors that correlate with the selection between conventional and digital methods. The result of this research will provide an overview of company work culture in the world of architecture profession that later can be developed as study material in preparing architecture students to face the profession world in the future..
