Summary:Palembang is the capital of South Sumatra, it can not be separated from the Musi River. Musi River is still a local public transport alternatives and also serves as a tourist area. Although there have been many government regulations that instruct the Musi River development as a tourist area, not all of the attractions on the Musi River corridor can function optimally. With an almost uniform characteristics and the location itself along the river path, the government has not initiated deeply related to the development of this tourist area in an integrated manner. Development of an integrated tourism area in this research is to integrate the diversity of types of tourism that exists along the Musi River, so that it will have a mutual support between each other by taking into account the centers of tourist activities, the characteristic of types of tour and has the linkage of tourism track, which in this case can be associated with tourism potential sights in Musi River area. The purpose of this study is to formulate the direction of the development of Integrated Tourism Area in Musi River, Palembang. The method used in this study is qualitative method, the data source selected by using purposive sampling. Descriptive qualitative analysis is used to identify the characteristics of the object and the type of tourist attraction. Based on this analysis will result in the description of the related objects and attractions that exist along the Musi River area by comparing the criteria, indicators, and the principle of development that has been formulated to check the current conditions in the study area. Then qualitative descriptive analysis is also used with pseudo evaluation approach for the identification of the level of integration and the tourism potential along the Musi River. To formulate the structural problems in the development of an integrated tourism area, constant comparison method is used to perform a comparison between the criteria and indicators in outcomes to find gaps or problems.
