Recently, an integrated transportation infrastructure has been completed in Jakarta. As a strategic transportation mode, MRT (Moda Raya Terpadu) gives people in rural area a chance to enhance their live qualities by searching a better workplace in the capital city. In response with this fact, private housing company will automatically provide a living place for workers in Jakarta who come from rural area. The developer provides not only living places, but also supermarkets, fitness centers, and many other facilities to support their residence’s needs without having to travel far from their house. Middle-upper class apartment of Alam Sutera is one of many examples for this kind of living places provided by private developer. The main structure will be designed by 2 stages of analysis. The upper structure is relatively more flexible than the lower structure. The upper structure is designed as an interaction between special momen resisting frame (SMRF) and special reinforced concrete shear wall. With this kind of interaction, the shear wall will be the first element which has plastic hinge when subjected to a series of earthquake loading or another form of hyteretical loading. The earthquake loading is based on response modification value of 7 (R), ductility factor of 5,5 (Cd), and overstrength factor of 2,5 with importance factor value of 1,25. The lower structure will be designed exactly as the upper structure with an interaction between special momen resisting frame and special reinforced concrete of 800 mm. By doing so, the 2 stages of analysis provision will be fulfilled. After designing the best suited structural system, then the designer will analyse the behaviour of the structure upon subjected to dynamic loading. It will include analysis of story drift, torsion irregularity, double system, horizontal irregularity, and vertical irregularity. Furthermore, the designer will also analyse the modal mass participation ratio of the main structure, basement and podium, and the skybridge. The designer uses response spectrum method to analyse the behaviour and strength of the upper structure and static equivalent method for lower structure. text
