foam cause lack of film lubricant on the contact surface. This
phenomenon increase friction losses. The manufacturing and the testing of a test
apparatus adopted ISO 6247, to simulate the real operating condition in
machinery. Four samples of testing lubricant, eg: 2 of diesel motor lubricants
and 2 gasoline motor lubricants are tested.
The testing rig which has been manufactured and tested based on ISO
6247 can distinguish the foaming character of new and used lubricant. The used
lubricant has a tendency to generate foam more than new lubricant, which can be
seen in testing result. The ISO 6247 standard cannot be used to monitor the airoil
dispersed of dark colour lubricant. |
