Description
Summary:Indonesia is a diverse country with diverse religions. In a diverse society, tolerance between cultures is needed so that people can live alongside. Behavior differences make a different mindset and lifestyle. If there is no tolerance, negative prejudice towards other religious groups can lead to discrimination, physical assault, even extremism. The act of religious intolerance is increasingly common. SETARA Institute for Democracy and Peace states that intolerance has infected the younger generation, which is transmitted mainly through social media and the internet. Like every generation, the young generation is in a demographic group. Generation Y is the generation with the most population in Indonesia. They actively uses social media Instagram. Based on the characteristics of generation Y, they can absorb information and authenticity of emotions quickly through stories. Thus storytelling is important for this generation. Religious tolerance can be embedded into Y generation through Instagram social media with visual storytelling techniques. As the nation's future candidate, generation Y needs a reminder of the importance of efforts to implement religious tolerance values in daily life.
