THE MAKING OF TIDAL TABLES ON BANGKA ISLAND FOR EXPLOITING TIN
Bangka Island is one of the largest tin-producing islands in Indonesia. Tin mining is one of the main livelihoods in Bangka Island. Tin mining can be done on land or at sea (land or offshore). Offshore drilling is very dependent on the tidal phenomenon that occurs in the region. The event of sea tid...

Tin mining is one of the main livelihoods in Bangka Island. Tin mining can be done on land or at sea (land or offshore). Offshore drilling is very dependent on the tidal phenomenon that occurs in the region. The event of sea tides is the phenomenon of periodic rise and fall of seawater caused by the comparison of celestial bodies of the moon and the sun. In mining needs, tin needs predictive information to determine the depth of tin to be dredged. This tidal prediction information consists of the highest and lowest sea water in the tin mining area. The results of this tide prediction include tide tables containing the top date, time and sea level. This research was conducted to make the table fit on Bangka Island to exploit tin. The method used in processing tidal data is harmonic analysis. The data used is tidal data of Bangka Island in 2017 which was obtained from the results of research conducted by ITB and PT Timah. In making the tide table, it is done in two forms representing the reference surface of the Sea Surface Average (MSL) and share for Chart Datum used by the company. Chart Datum used is the Lowest Astronomical Tide (LAT). The results of this tidal table provide a predictive value of instantaneous sea level. With this value, companies can find out the depth to be dredged as expected, companies that can get results, which can be optimal. text |
