Description
Summary:The purpose of this study was to determine the process of asphalt and oil shale formation in the Buton Island, comparing the density of Buton asphalt for each deposit (Kabungka, Lawele, and Sampolawa), and comparing the characteristics of asphalt and oil shale in terms of physical and content the mineral in general. The research method used is experiment and literature study. The data were by the results of literature studies from various books and journals, direct observation to the field, and sampling from Buton asphalt. The results of this study are the process of forming asphalt and oil shale in Buton Island and the difference in density between asphalt in each deposite (Kabungka, Lawele, and Sampolawa) on Buton Island, comparison of the characteristics of Buton asphalt and oil shale Green Rever the mineral. The implications of this study is expected to add information and interest to students and the public about oil shale as a natural resource contained in Buton Island and increase knowledge about the advantage of oil shale as a source oil. In addition, it is a matter of consideration for the Buton Island Education Office and its surroundings to make natural resource mines (asphalt / oil shale) as a source of learning in nature so that students or the public can get to know the potential of the region.
