Orphanages are one of the solutions to overcome the problems of abandoned children to replace the family role in the growth of a child. William Booth Orphanage in Bandung has been established since 1917 until now requires a new orphanage equipped with supporting facilities such as halls and administrative offices. The project is located in the Gegerkalong Army Housing Complex (KPAD) with 3000 square meters site that can accommodate 100 children, 30 caregivers, and other workers. Not just a place to live, orphanage is also become an external factor that affects the development of children. This can be achieved if building’s design play a role in meeting the basic needs of the children, in this case the basic needs that will be met is based on the Hierarchy of Needs of Abraham Maslow. Therefore, the concept brought in the design of this orphanage is Natural - Intimate - Playful by applying natural lighting and ventilation, the use and play of natural materials that give the impression of warm and not boring, the provision of shared spaces in small groups, inner court as an open space and microclimate control. It is thus expected that through this orphanage design the basic needs of the children can be fulfilled and the growth and their development can be maximally encouraged. text
