William Booth Orphanage in Bandung has been established since 1917 until now requires a new orphanage equipped with supporting facilities such as halls and administrative offices. The project is located in the Gegerkalong Army Housing Complex (KPAD) with 3000 square meters site that can accommodate 100 children, 30 caregivers, and other workers. Not just a place to live, orphanage is also become an external factor that affects the development of children. Therefore, the concept brought in the design of this orphanage is Natural - Intimate - Playful by applying natural lighting and ventilation, the use and play of natural materials that give the impression of warm and not boring, the provision of shared spaces in small groups, inner court as an open space and microclimate control. It is thus expected that through this orphanage design the basic needs of the children can be fulfilled and the growth and their development can be maximally encouraged. text |
