Association between FMA with root plant will result in occurrence infection roots that can help speed up the absorption nutrient element process. FMA diversity varies on environment condition or the different vegetation. Papandayan Mountain Area have variation vegetation, among them is crater vegetation and mixed forest. This research aiming for compare FMA community and root infection level by FMA on mixed forest and crater vegetation on Papandayan Mountain. Soil sampling for FMA spores examination are done by belt transect on five plot (10 meters X 10 meters) at each location, in each plot the soil is taken composite from five points. Root sampling for determine root infection done from every tree species that found in each of the study sites. FMA spores identification are carried out with wet filtering method, coloring with Melzer and PVLG. Root infection observation done by trypan blue coloring. Research results showing species richness of FMA spores in both location, consist of 15 taxa from the Glomus, Acaulospora, Scutellospora, and Dentiscutata genus. Highest relative abundance on both location showed by Glomus taxa. Spores density in crater vegetation (20,416 individual/gram) bigger than mixed forest (9,657 individual/gram). Shannon -Wiener spores diversity index in crater vegetation (2,46) bigger than mixed forest (2,37). Highest root infection in crater vegetation found on Vaccinium varingiaefolium plant species by 90% and in mixed forests on the Syzygium gracile species by 80%. In general can be concluded that crater vegetation has individual spores density (20,416 individual/gram) and Shannon Wiener diversity index (2,46) higher than individual spores density (9,657 individual/gram) and Shannon Wiener diversity index (2,37) mixed forest. The biggest root infection level found on Vaccinium varingiaefolium by 90% in crater vegetation and 80% Syzygium gracile species in mixed forests. text
