Summary: | To succeed the Asian Games 2018 in Indonesia, the government build Light Rail Transit in Jakarta and Palembang. However, it should be noted that Palembang is the location of wind reversal, so the frequency of lightning strikes in this area is very high. In addition, the position of rolling stock is higher than surrounding object, so it is definitely an easy target for lightning strike. So far, the early streamer emission air terminals only protect stations and important objects in viaduct such as signal and telecommunication poles, and most of the track will be an easy target for lightning strike. If it is hit by a direct strike, there will be very high voltage elevation because the grounding is installed on every 5 piers, in fact it can even reach 12MV. Installation of grounding on each pier will lower the voltage elevation by 57%. Besides the threat of direct strikes, the voltage can arise from BTS tower and 70kV transmission wire induction when that objects are struck by lightning. To overcome the threat due to direct strikes, we can install Overhead Ground Wire, Extended Mast Terminal, or Extended Mast Lamp on viaduct, while for the threat of voltage induction, Extended Mast Terminal is installed on BTS tower and Metal Net is installed under 70kV transmission wire. Comparative analysis between the grounding system and the foundation grounding system shows that the foundation grounding system has much smaller resistance than the grounding system installed, thus in the next LRT project it is necessary to use the foundation grounding system as written on the international standard IEC62305-3: 2010. |
