Description
Summary:Soft magnet materials can produce magnetic fields under the influence of electric currents. NiZn ferrite soft magnets are commonly found in electronic components such as transformers and ferrite bead. In this research, the process of making soft magnet NiZn ferrite was carried out by powder metallurgy method. NiO powder, ZnO powder, and Fe2O3 powder mixed using a ball mill machine for 8 hours, then calcined at temperatures of 800 oC, 850 oC, 900 oC, and 950 oC in the furnace. After that compacting was carried out at 2.5 tons, 3 tons, 3.5 tons and 4 tons using a hydraulic press machine. The compacted green body is sintered at 1270 oC with 2 hours of holding time and become a solid sample. The sample then enters the characterization stage to observe material properties of the sample. Magnetic properties characterization was done by using permagraph, the highest coercivity was obtained with value of 0,180 kOe at pressure of 4 tons and temperature of 900 oC, the highest remanence value was 0,980 kG and temperature of 900 oC, and the highest saturation value with 2,877 kG was obtained at 3,5 tons and temperature of 900 oC. Meanwhile the others characterization such as XRD was performed to obtain lattice parameter data, SEM to obtain microstructure data, and EDS to obtain elemental composition data from the sample.
