One of the possible substitutes is bioavtur, which comes from various plants such as algae and palm trees/palm oil. However, in order for bioavtur to be used as fuels in the future, there has to be a more comprehensive research regarding the side effects of its usage as well as it’s capabilities. To prove this, an experiment is conducted by using the gas turbine machine Rover IS/60 and through the comparison of mixtures of bioavtur at 0%, 2% and 5%. This (research) paper will be limiting the comparison of the bioavtur mixtures and the avtur based on two main aspects which are performance and emission. Both parameters were chosen based on the requirements of certification for a new fuels based on ASTM standards as well as to answer the environmental issues which is believed to be minimized along with the usage of bioavtur. Ultimately, the purpose of this (research) paper is to perceive the correlation between the parameters, performance, and emission, and the increase in brake power as well as the characteristics difference in terms of performance and emission for each of the bioavtur mixtures. The result of this reseach shows that with a greater mixture percentage, there is no significant effects towards the performance except for the combustion efficiency. Unlike the emission, by which a greater mixture percentage results to an increase in CO, HC and CO2 and a decrease in NOx, O2 and smoke. text
