Summary: | Established in 2018, Citarum Harum aims to revitalize environmental problems in Citarum River, including domestic wastewater. As the largest district in Sector 21, Rancaekek District is one of the main target of the program. Currently, this district still uses septic tank as the wastewater treatment, although only 29.24% are environmentally safe. Therefore, it is planned to build Rancaekek Wastewater Treatment Plant with the treatment capacity 31,412 m3/day. This treatment capacity covers wastewater generated from housings, public and social facilities, and infiltration discharge. The main parameters to be treated are BOD and TSS with removal efficiency 70% and 65%, respectively. The proposed biological treatment units are CMAS, trickling filter, and oxidation ditch. The removal efficiency, reliability, sludge production, land requirement, environmental impact, operational cost, construction cost, sustainability, and simplicity of each unit were calculated. Based on scoring and weighting, CMAS is selected as the biological treatment unit in Rancaekek WWTP. The configuration of treatment unit includes bar screen, grit chamber, equalization tank, primary sedimentation, CMAS, clarifier, gravity thickener, anaerobic digester, and sludge drying bed.
