The level of interest in reading inside the community, including students, becomes an important consideration. According to the Director of Welfare Statistics (Kesra) Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the students’ level of interest in reading in DKI Jakarta rank second position as much as 93.10%. The high interest in reading becomes an important asset that must be maintained even to be improved. In addition, nowadays people can obtain information not only through books but also by interacting, in that condition they must be given the right place. Library from its function seens can play a role as main supporting facility in improving and maintaining interest of reading and also become recreation place. But libraries that we had known seems too formal to make it as an interesting place to visit. Therefore it is necessary to build a library that is fun and friendly to be visited for the community. This project is a fictitious project located at Jalan Senopati, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta. The area is 9,061.96 m2. The library will accommodate reading activities that include print and non-print collections and additional reading facilities. In addition, the library is equipped with supporting facilities in the form of communal spaces to accommodate various activities that are used for public such as workshops, seminars, book review, and others. Based on the main purpose of this project, the main issue that arises is related to interaction and image of the building. From the issues raised a concept of "Library as a Recreational Space" to realize.
