Further observations needed to get better understanding about electroless nickel plating. In this research, electroless nickel plating has done with variation of temperature 70oC, 75oC, 80oC, 85oC with constant pH 7,5 for 2 hours. Then , variation of pH 7,5; 8; 8,5 with constant temperature 80oC for 2 hours. After that, heat treatment has done with variation of temperature 350oC, 400oC, 450oC for 10 minute from coated sample with bath parameter : pH 8 at 80oC for 2 hours . Microhardness Vickers and SEM, EDS, XRD characterization of coating were conducted on sample. Test results show increases in hardness after plating applied. Maximum hardness 602,9+40,3 VHN obtained after plating with pH 8, temperature 80oC for 2 hours applied. After heat treatment, maximum hardness 917,6+49,5 VHN with heat treatment temperature 400oC. from XRD characterization, there changes between plated nickel before and after heat treatment. Increases in crystallinity from 60,9% to 78,5% after heat treatment applied. text |
