Construction projects handled by contracting companies have a big challenge not only on how to complete the project on time by minimizing the budget, but also to eradicate and minimize the harmful impacts that have a negative influence on environmental pollution. Even according to Hendrickson et al (2000), construction activities are characterized as businesses that disrupt the environment. The construction produces environmental disturbances in the form of sewage sludge, noise, dust, odor, vibration and even dangerous chemicals. The application of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System to organizations provides a basic system to prevent environmental pollution and provide an effective environmental management management system. The production base of the construction company located on the project is a challenge for the construction company in terms of implementing the ISO 14001 environmental management system given the unique and different nature of the project itself. The application of a good environmental management system by contracting companies can contribute positively to efforts to prevent environmental pollution. For this reason, it is necessary to know how the description of construction companies implementing the environmental management system in their projects is based on ISO 14001 indicators and what are the constraints for the construction project in implementing the environmental management system. The objective of this study is to find out how the implementation of indicators in the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System clause in construction projects can be achieved so that construction companies can implement the Environmental Management System required by ISO 14001. And in terms of fulfilling the application of ISO 14001 in construction projects reviewed in this study also wanted to know the relationship between the application of ISO 14001 to the factors that were the main obstacles in terms of its implementation in several construction projects, including construction projects of factories, buildings & infrastructure. In the results of the study, the tendency to apply ISO 14001 in factory construction projects has the highest level of application in almost every clause of the application of ISO 14001, and from the author's observation, this is because almost all of these projects are required to use management systems from project owners. So for factory construction projects, the involvement of project owners on the implementation of environmental management systems puts pressure on contractors so that the implementation of an environmental management system can be applied. The results of the agreement on the constraints on the implementation of the environmental management system in construction projects also obtained the tendency for plant construction projects to produce a lower value of agreement compared to infrastructure construction projects. In terms of fulfilling the application of the ISO 14001 environmental management system in construction projects, the role of the project owner, the role of the role of the project leader, the role of the government and the relation to environmental aspects have an influence on the implementation of the implementation. And the obstacles to implementing the ISO 14001 environmental management system on construction projects are also affected by this. Implementation of ISO 14001 in factory construction projects is better because there is a role for project owners in the implementation that requires ISO 14001 to run on the project. While the constraints that occur in infrastructure construction projects that fulfill their implementation are low due to the lack of supervision involving project owners
