Description
Summary:Indonesia has a high potential to develope hydropower generation. The geography of Indonesia which there are so many highlands, gives Indonesia a plenty of water potential energy. This water potensial energy should be use properly. Especially, this kind of energy is a renewable energy that should be developed in this era where the source of fossil energy is continuosly decrease. These issues make the writter want to participate on developing and increasing the utilization of renewable energy This final project contains the procedure to design, modeling, and simulating a propeller turbine. This turbine can be used to generate an electrical power from water potential energy sources. The turbine that has been designed is then being simulated by Computational Fluid Dynamics based program to evaluate the turbine performance. The simulations have been doing by varying the turbine rotational speed and guide vane angle. The result of the simulations is the turbine can generate the power up to 72.3 kW by 84.6% of efficiency. This is the best efficiency point of the turbine that can be reached when the turbine operate on its design point at 500 rpm, head of 6 m, and at optimal guide vane angle.
