Summary: | necessary to do tidal correction caused by the spatio-temporal
variations of sea level that affect the depth value obtained. Conventional methods such
as observing tidal station readings have been carried out to obtain the tidal correction
value, but with the development of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)
technology, the Real Time Precise Point Positioning Tide (RTPPP-Tide) method
began to be investigated and developed as an alternative method that can be used to
obtain tidal correction value too. In this study, a comparative analysis of the two
methods was carried out in order to obtain an overview of the differences between the
two methods, along with the advantages of the RTPPP-Tide method when compared
to the method of manual readings.
The acquisition of the depth data was carried out at Pulau Pramuka, Kepulauan Seribu
by sounding on the planned survey lines. Based on the results of the study, the rootmean-
square-error (RMSE) values are obtained by comparing the tidal correction
values, along with the differences of digital elevation model (DEM) between the two
methods. The value of RMSE varies between 5.7 cm to 11.4 cm when using the RTPPPTide
data with high fluctuation, while using the regressed RTPPP data varies between
3.1 cm to 10.5 cm. The differences of tidal correction value between both methods can
be caused by errors in observations and the quality of the data being used. The use of
the RTPPP-Tide method represents the condition of the sea level better at each
sounding points when compared to the method of manual readings.
