Summary: | The business world is filled with increasingly high competition among domestic businessmen, which motivates every company to compete to produce high competitive value. To achieve high competitive values, each company must evaluate and develop aspects that support the success of the company, one of which is the distribution system aspect. At present it is known as multimodal transportation, in accordance with the issuance of Minister of Transportation Regulation No. 15 of 2010 concerning Multimodal Transportation Blueprint in the form of multimodal development and development directions in order to smooth flow of goods and passenger flows and support an effective and efficient national logistics system. One industry that runs shipping with multimodal transportation is PT. Krakatau Steel as a producer of raw materials for the industries as a whole. Evaluation was carried out on the conditions of the current transportation mode and the cost of shipping steel to Surabaya using cost optimization. In shipping steel to Surabaya using three types of vehicles divided into two groups, namely multimodal transportation and single mode. The results of the study showed a decrease in costs by using multimodal transport of Rp. 3,573,592,293 or 7.754%. Whereas with a single mode Rp 217,663,745 or 4.368%. In addition, the number of existing vehicles for multimodal transport is 782 trailer units and 2415 railroad cars with optimization results as many as 798 trailer units and 2332 railroad cars. Whereas, for the single mode trailer there were 291 trailer units and 82 trailer units were optimized with a total yield of 274 trailer units and 157 tronton units. Then, the assumption was made on the growth of steel shipments to Surabaya in anticipation of the government in preparing a multimodal transportation network and infrastructure network of course in anticipation of PT. Krakatau Steel (Persero) in preparing steel shipping transportation modes to Surabaya along with the increasing demand for steel each year. |
