Summary: | The rapid growth of textile industry in Indonesia raises the necessity of natural material processing. Mango tree (Mangifera indica) is one of the widely known plants in Indonesia, which its leaves haven’t been processed up to its potential particulary into natural dyes. The utilization of natural dyes of mango leaves as a primary textile material increases the value of local wisdom and natural resources.
In an attempt to exploit natural resources, rayon fabric’s waste combined with natural dyes of mango leaves have been chosen to be the primary textile material. It also puts the value of craft forward therefore improves the use and functional value.
Fabrication of natural dye through environmentally friendly processing using rayon fabric’s waste by traditional textile technique (manual weaving loom) added with the choice of supporting material that strengthen the structure presents special characteristic particularly on rayon fabric’s waste. The overall exploration will be applied into the design of fashion product which can be adjusted with market conditions. |
