INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/39997 The research area is located in Kuala Kuayan, Kotowaringin Timur Regency, Kalimantan Tengah Province. The coal bearing formation in this field is Dahor Formation. The research is focused to understand the rank, type, quality, potential, and depositional environment of the coal deposit. The analysis conducted in this research consist of organic petrographic such as vitrinite reflectance and maceral composition analysis as primary data, while chemistry analysis was proximate and ultimate analysis as secondary data. Samples in the study area were obtained from four drill points namely KKB01, KKB02, KKB03 and KKB04 which spread from north to south. Based on organic petrographic analysis and chemical analysis, coal in the research area has a rating of Lignite A to Sub-Bituminous C. The type of coal in the research area is classified as Humic consist 67.93% - 95.51% Huminite composition. Coal in research area has very low to high ash content, low mineral content and low to high sulfur content. The potential for coal utilization in the study area is as fuel for PLTU, but it needs to conduct ash reduction process. Based on Tissue Preservation Index (TPI) and Gelification Index (GI) analysis, and supported by Ground Water Index (GWI) and Vegetation Index (VI) analysis, coal in the study area was deposited in the telmatic zone with indications of the upper deltaic plains to the lower deltaic plains, and the paleomire is bog. text
