Description
Summary:Agricultural production in global has underwent rapid changes due to some global problems. These problems consist of population increase, climate changes, soil degradation, water shortage and food safety. Agricultural production systems in integrated aquaponic system are comprised of some components and variables which interact in complex ways to influence production sustainability. Through a mixed-methods approach, researchers combine qualitative and quantitative data to develop and simulate dynamic system which explores the systemic interaction of variables on economy sustainability, environment and social aspects. Subsequently, researchers use the said models to evaluate financial feasibility of agro-industry system on environmentally integrated aquaponic-based business on some industry scales. The research’s aim is to facilitate low-middle scale businessmen to adopt agro-industry system on environmentally integrated aquaponic-based business model. The modelling results a good potential for sustainability which exist in agroindustry on environmentally integrated aquaponic-based business on some industry scales. Model in this study was conducted at CV. X as a business that ventured on producing catfish (ikan lele) and kale (kangkung). Furthermore, the results of the study show agro-industry system on aquaponic-based business which integrated with catfish cultivation, hydroponics on kale and azolla, catfish filet processing, fish feed production and organic fertilizer production results in increasing production activities and supporting the sustainability concept on business financially. Catfish cultivation has an integral role in integrated aquaponic business. This subsystem acts as a producer of fresh catfish, liquid organic fertilizer, and a nutrient provider for plant growth in hydroponic subsystem. The yield from catfish cultivation, that is catfish, is then processed into catfish fillets as a form of valueadded products in aquaponic based business. The process of catfish fillet production produces wastes in the form of head, skin, and fish bones which can be reprocessed through a fermentation process into fish feed. The fish feed production is carried out by enumeration and fermentation with the addition of Azolla from hydroponic subsystem. The existence of artificial fish feed can reduce the cost to buy fish feed in business activities and generate some revenues. This entire process in this system implements re-cycling and reusing wastes to be used to other subsystems. Therefore, this business model creates integrated agro-industry of aquaponic which has minim waste production and environmentally friendly. The calculation of financial feasibility is obtained by investment provisions carried out for 12 months or one year. Based on the results of simulation and calculation of financial feasibility, the smallest scale and advantageous integrated aquaponics business is an aquaponics business with a business scale of six ponds. This business has ponds with diameter of one meter and cultivation maximum of 2000 catfish per pond. Calculation on financial feasibility of this business resulted Net Present Value (NPV) of Rp. 17,310,147.05, Internal Rate of Return (IRR) 15.9%, and Discounted Pay Back Period (DPP) for 4.5 months. Furthermore, the scale of this business requires an investment of Rp 124,829,000,00. Simulation results and financial feasibility calculations on this multiscale aquaponic business also show the best financial performance on some scales of business. This business scale is an integrated aquaponic business with a total of eighteen bioflock ponds. The diameter of this ponds in this business is three meters with its maximum of fish cultivation is 10.000 catfish per pond. Financial feasibility analysis of an integrated aquaponics business on twenty two-ponds scale has investment value of Rp 858,271,400.00, Net Present Value (NPV) of Rp. 3,467,303,027.58, 42% Internal Rate Of Return (IRR), and 4 months Discounted Pay Back Period (DPP). Research was then continued in pemangku kepentingan analysis. The results of this study indicate that business leaders, supervisors and investors have an important role in the development of integrated aquaponic business. The involvement of these stakeholders in business activities continuously is expected to increase business sustainability.
