DESIGN OF COASTAL PROTECTION STRUCTURE IN LAMPU SATU, KABUPATEN MERAUKE

The coast is the area where land meets the sea. The natural phenomenons that occur around the coast, such as waves, currents, sediment transport, and tides, make the coastal a dynamic and vulnerable area to damage. These natural phenomenons can cause erosion and sedimentation. One of the coastal are...

The natural phenomenons that occur around the coast, such as waves, currents, sediment transport, and tides, make the coastal a dynamic and vulnerable area to damage. These natural phenomenons can cause erosion and sedimentation. One of the coastal areas that experienced the damage is Lampu Satu Beach, Merauke. In Lampu Satu Beach, there are a village and the manufacture of traditional shipyards. Damage to the coast has caused losses due to the erosion and floods that often occurs. To resolve the erosion problems that occur at Pantai Lampu Satu, it is necessary to plan coastal protection, so that the activities of the resident can be done properly. Modeling conditions of Lampu Satu Beach is needed to simulate coastline deterioration due to erosion. In addition, alternative modeling of coastal protection structures is designed to resolve the shoreline change problem, using the NEMOS (Nearshore Evolution Modeling System) module found in the CEDAS (Coastal Engineering Design and Analysis System) software. In the NEMOS module, there are a series of inter-related sub-modules to simulate the shoreline changes. Modeling is done to predict shoreline changes for 10 years, from 2015 to 2024. The modeling results are used as parameters to choose the type and design of coastal protection structures. The GENESIS (Generalized Model for Simulating Shoreline Change) sub-module is used to model the coastal protection structure. Coastal protection structures are modeled in the form of revetments, breakwaters, groins, and combinations of the structures. Groins and revetments are chosen to be the coastal protection structures in Lampu Satu Beach. Five groins are designed with three 44 meter long groins, and the other two are 36 meters and 27 meters each, and three revetments with a length of 100 meters each text
