Summary: | PT XYZ is a coal mining that produce high rank coal that located in Central Kalimantan
Province and construct rejects material from the Coal Processing Plant to a mine waste
dump. reject materials are classified to a rock fill and consist of mudstone and sorted based
on the fragment size and the percentage of rock fill. The mechanical parameters of the reject
materials are obtained from laboratory test and calculated into Barton and Kjaernsli critera.
Slope stability analysis is carried out with limit equilibrium method using Janbu Method
with the help of Rocscience’s Slide 6.009. Waste dump that has been analyzed consist of
two topography conditions, flat topography and topography with angle 80. Then, safety
factor (FS) of the slope is computed and the slope with FS more than one is considered stable
or safe while FS less than one is considered unstable or unsafe.
The slope stability modeling, consist of twenty-four slope models, showed that the higher
the percentage of large fragment size from waste dump material will increase the value of
equivalent roughness (R) thus increases the value of safety factor (FS). The modeling results
also showed all slopes are stable or safe as the result of safety factor are more than one.
Therefore, it is recommended to increase the height of the slope or the overall slope angle
thus reduce the dumping area. |
