To meet the demands of the residents, the Ministry of Transportation is planning to build a port for accommodating goods and passanger transportation off and to the island, near the city of Bunyu. The port will also be used by the Indonesian Government to reach islands that are small and remote to better facilitize the needs of its citizens. In this final assignment, an analysis regarding the environmental conditions surrounding the planned location of the sea port will be conducted to achieve an optimal sea port layout. The analysis comprise of refining environmental data such as ocean current, waves, winds and tide data. Based on the analysis, dimensions for the marine facilities, such as harbor basin and approach channel, land facilities, such passanger terminal and storage facilities, and harbor, such as harbor elevation, length, and width, can be calculated. These dimensions, as well as ocean current and wave model outputs and wind data, are to be considered when designing altenative orientations of the port. The ocean wave and current modelling are done using Surface Water Modeling System 8.1 software. In determining the optimal harbor orientation, the alternatives will be assessed based on various criterias. Based on all the dimensions of the facilities and harbor, environmental conditions, and the chosen orientation of the harbor, the optimal layout of the sea port in Bunyu Island, North Kalimantan can be designed. text
