Description
Summary:One of the active alluvial tin mining areas in Belitung is in Badau District. The mining and processing of cassiterite ore has demonstrated the potential resources of Rare Earth Element (REE) which is present in the form of tin association minerals such as monazite, ilmenite, zircon, xenotime, anatase and rutile. Along with the development of technology, the demand for these elements will encourage exploration activities in the future. Samples from primary, secondary, residual processing deposits and concentrates have been collected from the pit of alluvial active tin mines, Tanjungpandan Granite intrusion hills and rivers in Badau District. Sample preparation included dewatering at 25oC - 130oC, reducing sample mass according to the correct rules using the Rotary Divider, fraction mineral classification based on sieving # 20, # 48, # 65, # 100, - # 100 and grinding using Milling especially the samples that will be carried out X-ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis. Macroscopic analysis, Grain Counting, mineragraphy and X-ray Diffraction (XRD) were carried out to determine the characteristics of tin association minerals and granite rocks which are believed to be the source of REE. The results of the study showed that the presence of tin association minerals such as monazite, ilmenite, zircon and xenotime in Badau District with the type of genesis which was sourced from the intrusion hill of the Granit Tanjungpandan formation. However, the target of tin association minerals such as anatase and rutile were not found in primary, secondary, SHP samples or concentrates.
