Summary: | LRT is an electric railway system operating at ground level, on aerial structures,
in subways, or in streets. Its construction in Cibubur is expected to break the traffic
jams caused by commuting workers towards the city center. Cibubur’s LRT needs
to be supported by feeders to connect itself and residential areas. Preference
influences a person's decision in choosing a mode of transportation so needs to be
taken into account in the procurement of feeder transportation. The purpose of this
study is to examine the commuter worker’s preferences about feeder transportation
towards the Cibubur LRT station. Respondents in this study were selected through
purposive sampling with a total of 97 respondents. Stated preference showed
respondents wanted high-frequency services, costing the equivalent of existing
public transport, having more capacity than existing public transport, and can be
reached within 0-200 meters walking distance from the front points of settlements.
All attributes related to comfort and safety are stated to be very important because
of perceptions regarding the condition of Cibubur’s main road traffic which will
cause a long waiting and time in the vehicle. Multiple linear regression which
shows that socio-economic dan traveling characteristics of respondents do not
significantly influence respondents’ preferences about feeder transportation. This
result may be due to homogeneous answers caused by lack of experience of
respondents in using feeder modes and poor perceptions of traffic conditions in
Cibubur. Comparing the results to previous studies shows the similarity of the
results of this study with the research of Bachok & Zin (2017) regarding lack of
influence of respondents’ characteristics on respondents' preferences regarding
feeder services, and the importance of feeder’s reability regarding it’s schedule.
Other things that are important based on commuter workers’ preference are the
comfort and safety of feeder transport to deal with Cibubur’s traffic congestion
